2020 Volunteer Committee Descriptions


Please review the Committee Desciptions carefully. All committee's designated days of operation are subject to change. Committee Chairman will communicate a more detailed schedule closer to the tournament.

Apparel

(CLOSED)

Inventory, prepare, and distribute volunteer packages and credentials. Participate in uniform distribution events. Manage volunteer package exchanges. Assist with sale of excess volunteer apparel during Tournament week.  Customer service-oriented position. Some lifting of boxes required.

Caddie Services

(CLOSED)

Register professional caddies. Distribute towels, issue caddie bibs, and oversee caddie hospitality.

Course Prep

Rope and stake course and all ancillary areas as specified. Committee will install stakes & ropes before the Tournament, maintain rope lines throughout Tournament week and remove stakes & ropes after the event. Must be willing to work outside and perform physical labor as this committee requires significant lifting.

Golf Carts

Allocate golf carts to PGA TOUR Champions Staff, Chairs, Coordinators and Operations. Maintain a sign in/sign out sheet and assign cart signage to individual carts. Ensure cart keys are returned and that carts are charged and cleaned daily.

Saturday, October 10 – Sunday, October 18

Golf Channel/TV Spotters


(CLOSED)

Assist Golf Channel with Tournament responsibilities including carrying microphones and equipment and relaying Tournament information to Golf Channel staff. This committee requires some golf knowledge, ability to walk the golf course/keep pace with their assigned group, in addition to minor lifting. Only one shift per day - must be able to work entire day (shifts are approx. 6 hours).

Honorary Observers

Help to coordinate the honorary observer program in which selected guests are granted access to walk inside the ropes with each match.  Assist with credential distribution, review specific guidelines and restrictions with each guest prior to their tee time, and manage photo process at the 1st tee and 18 green.

Long Drive

Measure and record the yardage of a professional's ball on the fairway using scoring devices provided to you by PGA TOUR Champions staff.  Mandatory training on scoring devices is required and standing may be required for long periods.

Marshals

Provide gallery control, assist in player movement, assist with noise control in hospitality areas, help locate errant golf shots and provide spectators with general information as needed. Marshals will also assist with the movement of players on and off the course due to rain delays or whenever deemed necessary. This committee requires standing for extended periods of time in addition to walking to various positions around assigned hole.

Thursday, October 15 – Sunday, October 18

Marshals – Practice Area

Provide gallery control, assist in player movement and provide spectators with general information, as needed, at the Practice Facility and putting greens. Collect and package balls and distribute name cards for professionals at the Practice Facility. This committee requires standing for extended periods of time in addition to walking.

Thursday, October 15 – Sunday, October 18

Player Services

(CLOSED)

Assist the tournament staff with the registration of PGA TOUR Champions Professionals.  Committee will provide assistance and coordinate attendance for local activities for players and their families.  Works closely with the PGA TOUR Travel Representative.

Monday, October 12 – Sunday, October 18

Player Transportation

(CLOSED)

Provide transportation for players, their families and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament, to and from hotels and airports. Must be over the age of 25, have a valid, U.S. issued driver’s license, and cell phone.

Practice Facility Shuttles

(CLOSED)

Provide golf cart transportation for amateurs, players and caddies to and from Tuckahoe Creek Practice Facility, as needed for the day. Committee operates on practice round, Pro-Am and competition days. Must be age 18 or older with a valid U.S. issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart transporting passengers.

Pro-Am Caddie

Provide caddie services to amateur participants in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic Official Pro-Am.  Caddie experience is not required but golf knowledge is a must and familiarity with The Country Club of Virginia, James River Course is a bonus. Must be able to carry a golf bag and walk 18 holes without a break.

Wednesday, October 14 – Thursday, October 15

Special Events

(CLOSED)

Assist in set up, registration and gift distribution for specific events and activities during Tournament week including: Pro-Am Pairings Party, Pro-Am Days, and any Military Appreciation activities. Committee requires minimal lifting (gift items).

Monday, October 12 – Sunday, October 18

Spectator & Parking Shuttles

Provide cart transportation for disabled spectators from various points on or around the golf course. Provide transportation for Caddies, Media and Volunteer Leadership to and from parking lot 2. Must be 18 or older with a valid, U.S. issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart transporting passengers.

Monday, October 12 – Sunday, October 18

Supply Distribution

Distribute beverages and snacks from designated locations to all holes on the course, scoring tents, practice range, media center, volunteer village, and other designated areas. Responsible for distributing Spectator Guides to committees and on course locations. Committee requires some lifting. Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid, U.S. issued driver’s license in order to operate a golf cart transporting supplies and also have the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Sunday, October 13 – Sunday, October 18

Volunteer Village

(CLOSED)

Manage tent where volunteers check in with their respective Committee Chairs as well as come for snacks & beverages in between their shifts. Maintain a clean and supportive meeting place for the volunteers.

Walking Scorers

(CLOSED)

Record the scores and statistics of play on handheld PDA devices during the Wednesday Pro-Am and all competitive rounds. Must be able to walk 18 holes without a break. Volunteers will receive training on how to use the PDA device.
